We want to make it as easy as possible for you to get started!
Many new members tell us that joining a fitness facility can be both an exciting and
intimidating experience. Here are some of the most frequently asked questions from members
during their first month or two with us.
Do I have to check in at the front desk every time I come in?
Yes. Our state of the art computer check in system is very simple and only takes a few seconds.
All members are required to have their picture taken and logged into the computer for
identification purposes. You simply scan your key tag and your visit is automatically
registered. This process also gives the receptionist an opportunity to welcome you.
Will someone help me set fitness goals and show me how to use the equipment?
To help you get started, two one hour appointments with a fitness trainer are included
with your membership. Your first appointment includes a written goal assessment and
computerized fitness evaluation. During your second appointment, your trainer will review
your fitness goals and the results of the fitness evaluation. The trainer will then design
and take you through an exercise program based on frequency, intensity, time and type of
workout to meet your individual goals.
When do I set an appointment for my initial fitness evaluation and workout?
Your fitness evaluation and workout should be scheduled the day you register for your
membership. If you are unable to keep a scheduled appointment, please call as soon as
possible so we can reschedule both you and the trainer.
Where is my workout card stored?
Workout cards are stored in alphabetical order in a filing bin located next to the Kidz
Club entrance. Take your card along with you when you work out and return it when you
are finished.
What if someone is using a piece of fitness equipment I also want to use?
You have a few choices:
If you are doing a total body workout, you can move to the next machine and come back when
the piece of equipment is free.
You can ask how many sets the other member has left and either “work in” or wait until
they are finished.
To share equipment with another member or “work in”, simply ask, “May I work in?” While
that person is resting, you can do your set. When you take your turn, finish your set
or exercise in a timely manner. The other member will take their turn while you are
resting between sets.
Are there other people like me at Genesis Fitness Centre?
We are an upscale adult fitness facility that caters to an adult population between the
ages of 30 to 60 years old, with the exceptions in both directions. Few people come here
who are already fit, so if you are deconditioned, don’t feel discouraged because you are
not alone. Our member ratio is 55% female and 45% male.
If you have a question not included here, or want help getting started simply ask the first
staff member you see. We’re all here to help you.
